Brian Powell

Brian was born in York in 1932 where he lived and was educated. He developed interest in painting and drawing at school. He had an apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering and his National Service was in The Royal Signals, followed by thirty years in the Fire Service. In 1963 Brian moved to Cumberland.
Over the years he has developed as an innovative watercolourist, completely immersed in the world of art, accelerated by the privilege of living in Cumbria, which makes him a compulsive painter.

His subjects are mainly land, sea and coastal scapes. He is very proud to be one of Cumbria's "Three Brushketeers" and a founder member of The Cumberland Brush and Palette Pals. He is also a member of the Carlisle and Cumbria Artists and Brampton Art Club.

He has travelled widely in Europe, Australia, Tasmania, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Singapore.
His works are in private collections in Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Sweden and the UK.
