Ron Ablewhite

Ron celebrates his fifteenth anniversary as a full time painter in October this year.
 
Since his move to Penrith, when he took up painting full time, Ron has built a reputation for producing highly detailed original watercolour and acrylic paintings which depict the ever changing atmosphere, textures and light of the Cumbrian landscape. He has also run numerous watercolour courses, workshops and demonstrations and still operates a teaching studio in Penrith.
 
Although mostly concentrating on depicting the landscape of Cumbria, Ron's work is not limited simply to the wonders of the Lake District. In fact, much of his work features close-up portraits of the livestock, buildings and rusting old machinery of the area's many farms.
 
In his 15 years as a full time painter, Ron has exhibited extensively throughout Cumbria at both one-man and group exhibitions as well as run his own galleries. These days, Ron does not normally work on a day-to-day basis in galleries.
