Landing Stage Derwentwater (sepia photo print)His work focuses on the elemental beauty of natural landscapes. "The land and environment has become a powerful and consistent aesthetic reference for beauty in every culture, particularly as pure landscapes or wilderness are so rare and threatened today."

His photography aims to isolate elemental purity and simplicity, and to explore the longing many of us have for pure landscapes. His images are a personal and public reminder of our vital heritage, emphasizing form, pattern and time in the landscape as a source of meaning and personal reference.

It was Henri Cartier-Bresson who said "I take pictures to find myself and hope that I hit the bull's eye". Mike's work represents some of the moments in his endeavours where he hopes he has "hit the bull's eye".
