Robert Campbell Print

Robert is a full time professional sculptor who was born in Penrith and grew up in Cumbria, before attending Art School in London where he learnt the basic skills in various mediums including painting and sculpture.

In the late 1960's he travelled to New Zealand where he received training in traditional wood carving after which he opened his own studio/gallery in Kaikoura on the beautiful South Island of New Zealand. He drew inspiration from the natural world around him, particularly whales and dolphins which are very common along the Kaikoura coast.

After marriage to his Australian artist wife in 1972, they lived for many years in various parts of the world, exhibiting their work in the South Pacific, the Seychelles and South Africa before returning to the U.K.

In 1996 Robert and his wife Helen moved to Cumbria. He continues to sculpt animal and human forms and prefers his work to be figurative rather than abstract and gains much of his inspiration from local subjects. His work in foundry bronze, wood, clay, stone and bronze resin can be obtained from regular exhibitions and a number of selected galleries. He is a member of the Carlisle and Cumbria Artists, The Wild Arts Society and has been a contributor over the last twenty years to The Lake Artists Society summer exhibition. His work is in private collections in the U.K. and around the world.
