David, born in Nottinghamshire, moved to Cumbria in 1966 and now lives near Cockermouth. A self taught photographer, he has exhibited internationally, gaining many awards including:-

In addition to participating in many joint exhibitions, he has had over thirty solo exhibitions. Amongst his many competition successes, he became Photographer of the Year, in 1986, in a national competition sponsored by the major names in the photographic trade.
His work is in private, corporate and public collections around the world, including the National Portrait Gallery and the V8A, in London. It has also been shown on television and been published in many books, magazines, cards and calendars.
