Tricia Kerr Print
For more than 20 years Tricia has worked in the field of Art’s Development, providing opportunities for people to experience, participate and enjoy the arts. Tricia’s own training is in the visual arts and she has attended Warrington School of Art and Loughborough College of Art and Design. For a period after leaving college Tricia worked as a librarian and an adventure playground leader and also taught adult education. Subsequently, she became the Arts Development Officer for Runcorn Development Corporation, leaving after 14 years to become a self-employed Arts Promoter. During this time Tricia was also on the Board of a number of Arts Organisations and was the Craft Council’s representative on the Regional Arts Organisation. Her freelance work involved with local authorities and Art’s Organisations and included arranging exhibitions, conferences and other events.
In 1996 Tricia’s husband relocated to Cumbria for business reasons moving from Cheshire to Braithwaite. Tricia has always found her career stimulating and worthwhile, but the move to Cumbria has given her the opportunity to concentrate on her first love – painting. She had been working in watercolours but moved to acrylics which she has found can express her vision of the Lake District in a more vibrant way.
It is the light and the landscape that inspires her. She is fascinated by the changing colours and shapes of the mountains and valleys. She is also captivated by the way the human landscape shapes and defines areas, challenging nature. Living with the different moods and atmosphere is a constant suspense and delight.
Tricia now works in acrylics and watercolours and, occasionally, oils. She has a number of Portrait commissions and she exhibits throughout Cumbria.
