Head of Art, Design and Technology Faculty for many years. His inspiration for artwork arises from the natural beauty inherent in hardwoods and from wild unspoilt scenery. He has lived close to the Lake District, overlooking the Duddon Estuary for more than 20 years and has developed a great affinity for mountains, moors, lakes and estuaries. He also travels, walks and skis in the mountainous areas and national parks of Europe and North America. The endless local beauty, the memories and digital images taken on trips abroad provide the stimulus for him to create. The grain, colour, defect or texture of a hardwood can be the starting point for a panel or his response may come from a natural landscape. Materials are shaped, formed and combined to produce both two and three dimensional work.
